Dragon Boat Festival: A 2,000-Year-Old UNESCO Heritage Celebrated Globally

The Dragon Boat Festival, or Duanwu, falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage with over 2,000 years of historyThe State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China. It honors ancient patriotic poet Qu Yuan.

Across China, locals hold dragon boat races and eat zongzi, sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves. Meanwhile, celebrations are held in California, Italy and other regions worldwide, drawing crowds to experience Chinese traditions.
