TAX war

On Friday (February 7), local time, US President Trump said that he plans to announce reciprocal tariff measures next week, which will apply to all countries,

and the news may be released "next Monday or Tuesday.

" Trump announced the news during a meeting with visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba that day.

Trump did not specify which countries would be hit, but hinted that it would be a broad tariff measure to help solve the US budget problem.

"I will announce the news next week, that is, the policy of reciprocal trade so that we treat other countries equally.

We don't want more or less."

Trump said, "I may hold a meeting on Monday or Tuesday to announce an announcement, and I may also hold a press conference.

" Trump said that reciprocal tariffs may replace the 10-20% general import tariff plan, which was the core of his economic policy during the campaign.

"They charge us, and we charge them. It's the same. I consider going this way instead of imposing a uniform tariff."

This move will fulfill Trump's previous campaign promise to impose tariffs on US imports at the same rate as trading partners impose on US exports.

Trump and his advisers have previously suggested that the United States may use tariffs to counter non-tariff trade barriers set up by other countries.

The US president argued that he was fighting for "fair treatment" for American consumers.

"Reciprocal tariff" plan released

Industry insiders said that Trump's latest tariff "offensive" is obviously a "major escalation"

that tears up and tries to reshape global trade relations that are beneficial to the United States.
